"Murphy's poems bounce right off the page."

I'm from Dublin but now live in "lovely Lismore" in West Waterford. Many moons ago I acquired a degree-level qualification in Fine Art and have since exhibited my paintings and collages in Dublin, Waterford, Sligo, Cork, Belfast and Brussels (Collagistas #6), and published poetry, art and photography in a few "serious" journals here and there too (see Links page). My first book "The Mona Lisa's On Our Fridge"(2009) was, much to my surprise, in an Irish Times children's poetry of the year article when it came out. "Psychosilly"(2011) and "Prometheus Unplugged"(2014) both received similar notices, and have each been shortlisted for the CAP Awards for Independent Writers. Several of my poems have also been in anthologies in the UK and America (see Anthologies page), and I have given readings and workshops at the West Cork Literary Festival, Electric Picnic and numerous other festivals over the years. My latest book "All Gums Blazing" was published in 2018, and got a hearty recommendation in that year's Inis Reading Guide.
